SECRET AGONY OF £31M RONALDO
EXCLUSIVE SECRET AGONY OF £31M RONALDO BY HIS MUM Player of the Year 2007
Gerard Couzens In Funchal, Madeira 22/04/2007

HE'S young, rich and the sure-fire favourite to be crowned footballer of the year at a glittering awards ceremony in London tonight.
At just 22 Cristiano Ronaldo has the world at his feet after signing a five-year, £31million contract with Manchester United that has seen his wages soar to £120,000 a week.
But today in her first-ever newspaper interview his mother Dolores Aveiro tells of the secret heartache behind her son's breathtaking success... and of how he watched helplessly as his father drank himself to death and saw his brother struggle to get off drugs.
"Cristiano has seen what drink and drugs can do to people close to him and it's part of the reason why he's become who he is today," said Dolores.
"What has happened to our family explains why Cristiano doesn't have any vices. He doesn't smoke and he doesn't drink. His only addiction is football."
Dolores says Cristiano paid for his older brother Hugo, now 32, to be treated at a drugs clinic in Lisbon. But his money could do nothing to save Dinis, his father.
"Dinis drank himself into an early grave which left Cristiano devastated," said 52-year-old Dolores. "Time and time again Cristiano offered to pay to get him treatment but Dinis kept on drinking. He was still so young, just 52 when he died. Cristiano was very close to his dad. He would have loved him to still be around to see the player he is today. It's very sad."
Dinis, a former council gardener, died 17 months ago from kidney problems on the the eve of Portugal's World Cup qualifying match against Russia in Moscow. Bravely, Cristiano still went ahead and played.
Dolores said Cristiano and his dad were inseparable before the budding football star left his home in Funchal - capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira in the Atlantic - at 11 to pursue his dream of becoming a professional with Sporting Lisbon.
The star was christened Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro as his dad's favourite actor was ex-US president Ronald Reagan. Dinis was also the kit man at boys' club Andorinha in Funchal where Cristiano played from the age of six to nine. Recently Cristiano said his dad's death devastated him... but also spurred him on. "Obviously the death of my father influenced everything. I knew the pain would pass and that the most important thing was for me to continue with my work."
Cristiano was 14, living away from home and only earning £170 a month with Sporting Lisbon, when Dolores realised that Hugo needed help if he was to avoid a life hooked on drugs.
"I paid to send Hugo away to a specialist clinic for treatment," says Dolores. "I was working as a cleaner then only earning £400 a month and I had to take out a loan."
But Hugo failed to stay clean and two years later he needed a second course of treatment.
"Cristiano was 16 then," says Dolores. "He was earning more and paid for his brother's treatment. There's no doubt his money helped to save Hugo. Things might have turned out a lot differently if Cristiano hadn't been a footballer."
Hugo is now drugs free and has given up his job as a painter and decorator to work as his brother's aide, dividing his time between Madeira and Manchester.
A family friend said: "Cristiano's seen what alcohol did to his dad and he never touches the stuff. He might have the talent of Maradona or George Best but that's why he's never going to go the way they did.
"The only loves in Cristiano's life are his football and his family."
The friend added: "Dinis was a tall, handsome man when Cristiano was a young boy but he lost all his looks and the weight was falling off him towards the end. Cristiano couldn't stop crying at his dad's funeral.
"There's no doubt what his family have been through has brought them closer together. Cristiano looks after his relatives and makes sure they want for nothing."
The life of luxury Cristiano enjoys as a football superstar could not be more different from his early life, living in a tiny tin-roofed shack in the parish of Santo Antonio overlooking Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean.
The family abandoned it five years ago for a mansion Cristiano bought them in the affluent Madeira suburb of Livramento. Today the living room of Cristiano's former home is filled with rubbish and old sofas while mattresses have been left to rot in the tiny bedroom he once shared with Hugo.
Mum Dolores worked as a cook as well as a cleaner to help put enough food on the table for her sons and daughters Elma, 33, and Katia, 29.
Looking around the old family home, Dolores said: "It's very different to where we live now but this was my home for 24 years. I was in Manchester last month when an old neighbour called to say thieves had broken in and stolen the windows and doors.
"It has a special place in my heart and it makes me very sad to see it the way it is now."
Today Dolores lives a life of leisure, jetting between Cristiano's Cheshire mansion and Madeira. She is waiting to move into a new home near the airport her son is having built for her. And the plain-looking woman from old family photos has been replaced by one with highlighted hair, Prada sunglasses and a matching Calvin Klein watch and earrings.
She is learning to drive and hopes Cristiano will give her a BMW convertible as an early birthday present. Sister Katia lives most of the year in an upmarket apartment in Lisbon and works as a singer with the nickname Ronalda. Elma owns a trendy boutique in Funchal named CR7 - a combination of Cristiano's initials and the number of his Manchester United shirt.
Yet the family are still welcome in their old neighbourhood of Santo Antonio. Cristiano meets up with old friends to play pool in Bar Falcao. Patricia Sousa, who owns the bar, gets fan letters addressed simply "Cristiano Ronaldo, Madeira" from as far away as Indonesia which she passes on to his mum.
Cristiano's success has given Madeira a boost and islanders call his trademark stepover on the pitch, O Balinho Madereinse, the name of a traditional dance. Signed Man United shirts hang from bar walls near his old home while he is expected to play a starring role when Funchal celebrates its 500th anniversary next year.
Mum Dolores is also talking to him about funding a home for the elderly and a creche on the island.
Rui Santos, president of Cristiano's first club Andorinha, said: "We are very proud that such a great football player comes from Madeira. I knew he would be good, but I never imagined he would go on to be what he has become".
Cristiano's godfather Fernao Sousa, 53, added: "All he wanted to do as a boy was play football. He loved the game so much he'd miss meals or escape out of his bedroom window with a ball when he was supposed to be doing his homework.
"When he first left home for Lisbon at 11 he got very homesick. The other boys used to take the mickey out of his accent and a couple of times he came home and didn't want to go back.
"But I told him his future lay away from the island and he had to go back."
That decision has paid off with Ronaldo's Man Utd boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, saying: "Cristiano at 22 has definitely got to the level of the best player in the world."
Dolores says: "All Cristiano has ever lived for is football. I still looked after his wages until he was 18 and even now the money he earns goes into a joint account in mine and his names.
"I know Cristiano's new contract gives him a lot of money but I know it won't change him as a person."
'He's seen what booze can do and won't touch the stuff'

Ronaldo's Boot-ique

RED DEVIL OR WHAT???
FOOTIE hunk Cristiano Ronaldo has done a Posh and Becks by turning to cutting-edge fashion and opening his own boutique. The Portuguese star used his initials and shirt number to name the trendy new store CR7.But instead of setting up near Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground, his boutique is 2,000 miles away – in his home town of Funchal, on Madeira.
So if Cristiano, 22, wants to get the cash-rich WAGs to flock to his new store, they will have to jump on a plane first. The move into fashion matches former United player and fashion icon David Beckham, 31, and his wife Victoria, 33, who famously created her own line in jeans.Cristiano has been very involved in choosing kit for this upmarket store. CR7 is stuffed with T-shirts and jeans for fellas, as well as clothes, handbags, necklaces and belts for the girls. And the star has picked a glam range of funky jewellery for the fellas too, including chunky shark-tooth bracelets and necklaces.
But shoppers could get a shock if they pick up one of the sweatshirts – it carries the words “De Puta Madre”, Portuguese for “Son of a Bitch”.While Cristiano is in Britain earning his £31million five-year pay packet with United, he has hired sisters Katia and Elma as managers to run the place. Within hours the shop was mobbed. One fan said: “Cristiano has made everyone on the island very proud. It’s fitting he chose his birth city for the shop.”

A Funny Interview

Q – Do you consider yourself good-looking? Do you see yourself as a sex symbol?
A – No. I’m neither ugly nor handsome, I think I’m normal. As we say in Madeira, I’m giro (cute).
Q – What is the most eccentric request you’ve been asked?
A – I was asked to autograph a breast, or as you say in good Portuguese a mama (bosom) [laughing]. I blushed! I got flummoxed, started laughing and couldn’t stop. I couldn’t do what she asked me for and ended up autographing a piece of paper. The people next to me also understood. The girl was actually serious, and implored me to give the autograph, but I didn’t want to do it. And I didn’t.
Q – Was it in England?
A – Yes, it was. But in Portugal similar things have happened…
Q – How do you manage to deal with your popularity and the constant requests, especially female requests?
A – Calmly and doing things normally. If it happens it’s good, it means I’ve got a good image. So long as it doesn’t go beyond a certain point I enjoy it, but no more than that.

Big time insight into my life!!!!!!!! troubled life

well at this moment i have a bad headache...thinking of cristiano obvoisly but the truth ...................

the truth which i havn't been able to tell any one im going to write down now....
in the middle of all my problems im scared of loosing my cristiano...im not scared that he'll leave uk or anything im scared that he may not prove so LUCKY for me and and and.......i will not have anyone to LOVE any more

i swear my heart....sometimes plays wierd tricks...my headache has not got any better
sometimes i feel like im obssesed with cristiano other times i feel im going to loose him. ive lost any interest i had in any other hobbies i have had before in the past... all iv been thinking of is CRISTIANO. i thought i would be comfortable with a PENDING relationship and i was for a long long time but now i want results ...i want to see him , i want to meet him and QUICK real quick.

love what a dumd thing, some people "fall in love" with people who are really close to them , i think they are l ucky to see their love in flesh and skin atlaest , the closest ive got to cristiano is the computer screen, perhaps the closest was when we lived in the smae city for a brief time!!!

i think my headache has gone. i have a tonne of things to worry about, homework, trips, work experience, friends, school, school work.

i think i dont feel that down now, after writing this. the most nicest thing that has happened to me after being obssessed with cristiano ronaldo is that my attitude.. urm my mentality,,,, my body is some how playing sport better.

i cannot explain exactly what it is but i like sport and PE now. i actually enjoy it it....funny because im supposed to be the doppiest one in my PE class!!!! i don't think i am any more...and sometimes i even have ronaldo luck on my side. i hope i do all the time

aaaaaaaa now my headaches gone and i don't feel that bad about my self.

i still think i ve gone over the LOVE stage....even the OBSSESION stage what is there after that?? i don't know but i think im going through it now!!!

its funny because the first time i searched for cristiano on google i saw that some girls were writing some pretty desprate things about themselves and their feelings towards cristiano. today , after 10 months im doing the same without realising.

look out for more of this feature.....i'll write more later on if i feel like it.

urm and he'll be earning £100 000 a week!!! which not only makes him one of the highest earning players but if he saves up all the wages for only 10 weeks it would give him £1 million

so now our cristiano is a a a a a MILLIONNAIRE !!!

weheeeeeee weheeeeeeeeeee weheeeeeeee (expecting some big diamonds and shiney winey expensive cars and big big housy very soon)
and lastly iv got a video called one in a million i don't know if you like it or not

John Terry is in Love with our Cristiano

okay stightly over the top title, nothing gay though! i promise...just terry complimenting cristiano

Fan" might not even be the right word ... it sort of sounds like Terry has Cristiano Ronaldo posters all over his bedroom walls. And it's a little bit odd, as the nominees for the Premiership's player of the year were just announced, and the top two candidates are Cristiano and Terry's Chelsea teammate, Didier Drogba.

Terry favours cristiano in a big big way

'I could watch Manchester United just to watch him. He does things with the ball that you don't see anyone else in the world doing the at the minute. He is the best in the world at the moment.'When he is at his best I don't think there are many people who can stop him. When he is running at you like he does with his skills and tricks, you don't know which way he is going.

Straight into the strong, loving arms of John Terry, if Terry has his way.Don't get me wrong, I love watching Cristiano as much as anyone, but he's supposed to be Terry's arch rival. A simple "he's pretty good" would have done just fine. Admiration for a competitor's game isn't at all inappropriate, but I don't know that the excessive gushing was necessary. Especially when Terry's teammate Drogba has two more goals on the season than Cristiano.

This is a funny article

PATRICE EVRA last night threatened to break Cristiano Ronaldo's legs - because he is sick of his Manchester United team-mate taking the mickey.
Ronaldo has been outstanding this season, took his goals tally to 20 in the 7-1 rout of Roma and is favourite to be Footballer of the Year.
Evra also scored against the Italians and is in awe of Ronaldo's ability - but not of being made to look a fool by him.

"Before every training session I tell Ronaldo that if he nutmegs me, I'll break his leg and rip his shirt to pieces," said Evra (above). "I don't want to have him taking the mickey out of me throughout the week.
"The tricks he pulls off are just too good. Once you've seen him do them, you don't want to take him on any more."

if you don't know what a nutmeg is a video will follow shortly

Patrice Evra claiming the Portuguese can be "better than Pele or Maradona".

Category: 0 comments

Ronaldo ''as good as Pele''

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been lavished with the highest praise following his display in the demolition of Roma, with team-mate Patrice Evra claiming the Portuguese can be "better than Pele or Maradona".

Ronaldo scored twice in the amazing 7-1 destruction of Roma at Old Trafford as he put in yet another scintillating performance to which the Italians rarely had an answer.

The 22-year-old is set to sweep the board in the player-of-the-year polls and Evra, who also found the back of the net on Tuesday, believes he can go on to become one of the game's all-time greats.

"Cristiano can do the same job as Pele or [Diego] Maradona or [George] Best," Evra said. "He can be like them. The great thing about him, he does not do it just in training, he does it on the pitch. And he does not do it for himself, he does it for the team, for the fans and for the winning of the game."

Ronaldo's sparkling form has helped United into the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League, and the Red Devils are still on course for an unprecedented second treble as they stand three points clear at the top of the Premiership.

But Evra refuses to get carried away with thoughts of such success and remains focused on the job in hand.

The France international said: "If we win nothing, people will say, 'well, United played good football', but to me that is not enough. It we win nothing it will have been a bad season. We must win one trophy or two. Three would be unbelievable, but anything is possible."

"When everything is going well is when things can become dangerous," Evra told L'Equipe. "The end of the season can be brilliant or like a bad dream for us. In football only trophies count.

"I've already experienced [a title run-in like this] with Monaco in 2004. We had a 10-point lead on Lyon in January and we qualified for the final of the Champions League. By the end, we had won nothing. I know at what point things go wrong. I don't want to re-live that."

Meanwhile, the rumours linking Ronaldo to a move away from Old Trafford look set to continue, with the Guardian reporting that Real Madrid are set to table a £54 million offer to lure him to the Spanish capital.

The newspaper reported that 'Real Madrid have stepped up their attempt to sign [Ronaldo] by meeting his agent and agreeing a course of action that directors at the Bernabeu believe will end with the Portugal winger becoming their latest galáctico'.

Ronaldo has recently reiterated his desire to remain at United, but has not ruled out the possibility of playing in Spain at some stage of his career.

so our hero is now said to be the best in the world
his own team mates first rooney and now evra too cannot stop talking about the talent and miracles RONALDO has and performes!!!
so enjoy the miracle video(featured before as a link)

Match

Manchester United 7 v 1 Roma

Carrick 12'' 60'' De Rossi 69''

Smith 17''

Rooney 19''

Ronaldo 45'' 49''

Evra 81''

A scintillating display by Manchester United saw them tear Roma apart to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Michael Carrick curled in United's opener and Alan Smith fired home before Wayne Rooney added their third of the night, finishing off a superb move.
Cristiano Ronaldo fired into the bottom corner and slid home a Ryan Giggs cross before Carrick smashed home a sixth.
Roma replied through Daniele De Rossi before Patrice Evra's low shot rounded off United's amazing 8-3 aggregate win.

The scuffles between fans outside the ground before kick-off were quickly forgotten once the game got underway, with United looking to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg.
Both sides showed attacking intentions in the opening minutes with Roma's Francesco Totti going closest with a fierce shot that fizzed past Edwin van der Sar's right-hand post.
But it was United who grabbed control of the tie with three goals in eight first-half minutes.
Carrick opened the scoring on 11 minutes when he picked up the ball from Ronaldo and bent the ball past a stationary Doni

Six minutes later it was 2-0 when Gabriel Heinze and Giggs combined before the Welshman flighted a perfect pass into the path of Smith, who finished with aplomb to net his first goal for United since November 2005.
Rooney got in on the act soon after, timing his run superbly to slot home Giggs' low cross after the Italian side had been completely torn apart down the right flank.
A shell-shocked Roma tried to respond and almost pulled a goal back when Philippe Mexes headed a David Pizarro free-kick wide.
But the visitors' attempts to find a way back into the game only succeeded in leaving themselves more vulnerable to United's pacey attack.
Carrick went close when he headed a Giggs corner at Doni but could not react quickly enough when the ball bounced straight back at him.

Ronaldo was in magical form to help United triumph
And Ronaldo did make it 4-0 before half-time with a precise finish into the bottom corner after the Roma defence had made the mistake of inviting him to shoot.
United were quite simply superb, and they did not let up after the break either.
Ronaldo, who was in sublime form, slid home a low Giggs cross for number five before Carrick's piledriver made it 6-0 on the hour mark.
Roma did get one goal back through De Rossi's neat finish on the turn but the game was long since up for the Italian side.
It was exhibition stuff for Ferguson's side by the end and they got the final word they richly deserved when Evra's low shot beat Doni.
Like United's first six goals it was a fine finish and completed a magnificent victory, their biggest in Europe since they beat Irish side Waterford on their way to winning the 1968 European Cup.
United will take on AC Milan or Bayern Munich in the last four as they look to book their place in this year's final in Athens on 23 May.
